Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) offers semiquantitative analysis with visualization of drugs and their metabolites. Micro-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS) offers the detection and quantification of small analytes with higher sensitivity. In this study, we are applying a quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer (QTOF-MS) equipped with an atmospheric pressure MALDI source (iMScope QT, Shimadzu, Japan) to explore the localization of drugs and their metabolites in mice. We are also applying micro-LC/MS by using the QTOF-MS equipped with a micro-ESI source for quantitative analysis of those analytes.
