制御されたガス流を活用したトラップ型移動度測定システムの開発

Ion mobility Spectrometry (IMS) has been a powerful tool in various fields, such as nano and bio sciences. However, its resolution is typically around 50, and is far below that of mass spectrometry. One of the studies to enhance the resolution is to use gas flow. Ions drift virtually longer distance in against flow, which leads to higher resolution. Most of those systems, flow is not controlled and even not measured, so that we need reference to know actual mobility and we do not know some side effect of gas flow such as heating at very high-speed gas flow around 100 m/s. Here we present development of ion trap ion mobility spectrometer with controlled gas flow to overcome these difficulties. With the system, we achieved very low controlled flow around 1 cm/s and high resolution around 100.
