親水性相互作用クロマトグラフィーを用いたクロムの化学形態別迅速定量法の確立
Chromium occurs in the environment primarily in two valence states, trivalent chromium (Cr(Ⅲ)) and hexavalent chromium (Cr(Ⅵ)). Chromium(Ⅲ) is an essential nutrient for humans, whereas Cr(Ⅵ) is highly toxic even at trace levels due to its strong oxidizablility. Therefore, a method for individual determination of Cr species in the environmental samples is necessary for potential risk assessment. In this study, a simple and rapid method was developed for the simultaneous determination of Cr(Ⅲ) and Cr(Ⅵ) in liquid samples by hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) combined with a chelating pretreatment. 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDCA) was used to unify various chemical forms of Cr(Ⅲ) cation species to a stable Cr(Ⅲ)-PDCA anion complex and it was separated from Cr(Ⅵ) oxyanion based on the difference in hydrophilicity by a HILIC column. Their separation parameters, such as mobile phase composition (CH3COONH4-PDCA-CH3CN) and column temperature were optimized. Under the optimum analytical condition, Cr(Ⅵ) and Cr(Ⅲ) were detected in 3.7 and 5.7 minutes, respectively.
