Hair is an important organ that protects the head and helps regulate body temperature. Hair contains an enormous amount of molecular information that is sensitive to chemical and physiologic influences. We tried whether nanoparticle-assisted laser desorption/ionization (nano-PALDI) mass spectrometry imaging is able to determine stress biomarker from a vertical hair-slice section. we found several molecules increased or decreased from depression mouse hair.
