In a previous work, we have focused on the simulation for peak coalescence phenomena on FT-ICR mass spectra at a high magnetic field. The influence of Coulomb-interaction-induced degradation of excited coherent ion cyclotron motion on an FT-ICR mass spectral peak shape has been investigated in detail by many-particle simulation. In the present work, we have analyzed in more precise detail the ion cloud behavior during ion detection and have discussed the mechanism of the phenomena due to the Coulomb-interaction-induced effects. The simulation results suggest that the relationship between the Coulomb-interaction-induced degradation of coherent ion motion and the spectral peak shape is quite complicated especially at a high magnetic field.
