Development of Thermometer Ions for the Measurement of Ion's Internal Energy
The internal energy distributions of ions activated by in-source collision induced dissociation (CID) during and low-energy CID in MS/MS were characterized using benzylpyridinium, benzyl ammonium, and phenyl sulfate “thermometer ions”. In both methods, the average internal energy of the ions linearly increased with increase in collision energy.
