Time-course monitoring of Hexafluorophosphate decay using Soft Ionization by Chemical Reaction In Transfer (SICRIT) ion source
Degradation analysis of Li-ion batteries is important to ensure product safety.
GC-MS and TG-MS based on EI-MS have been used for decomposition analysis of Li-ion batteries. We tried to decomposition analysis using Q-TOF MS equipped using dielectric barrier discharge ionization (DBDI) ion source (SICRIT). Many phosphorus-containing components were detected in the volatile such as PF2O2-, PF4O-, PF2CO2- using the negative mode of the mass spectrometer. We report the estimated composition of LiPF6 in air and time-series change by Q-TOF with high mass resolution.
