In quantitative analysis of steroids using LC/MS/MS, multiple ion monitoring (MRM) method has been used for highly sensitive detection. The MRM is targeted analysis method. Therefore, unknown and unexpected components could not be detected by MRM. Comprehensive analysis is required to elucidate various disease in metabolomics. In this study, metabolites in the serum were detected with high sensitivity and selectivity using LC/IM/MS. Steroids ions for targeted analysis and lipid ions for non-targeted analysis were observed. In addition, obtained LC/IM/MS data were statistically analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA). Healthy subjects and various hypertensive patients were classified based on steroidal differences.
