Spider venom contains a variety of bioactive peptides that exhibit various biological activities. In this study, we characterized peptide components in the venom of the spider Badumna insignis by combination of de novo transcriptome and mass spectrometric analyses. The result suggests the existence of many peptides with multiple disulfides bonds, which are likely to have neurotoxicity, in the B. insignis venom.
