Non-cross-linked polyethylene pipe (PE-RT) was conducted to accelerated degradation test in hot water at 100°C under air pressurization and Cu2+ ion addition. The oxidation state was clarified by C=O FT-IR mapping on cross section of test piece. In this study test solution and gas phase of testing vessel were examined for finding the products generated by oxidation degradation of polyethylene. Ion chromatography (IC) and GC/MS method were used to analyze organic acid and hydrocarbons. It was discussed whether these products are possible to predict the oxidation in near future before oxidation degradation of polyethylene or not.
