メタプロテオミクスを用いた細菌叢解析法の開発
Bacteria present in the human digestive tract form a complex ecosystem called gut microbiota. It is affected by the host immune system and dysbiosis in gut microbiota is highly associated with a variety of human diseases. Metagenome and metabolome studies have been actively conducted in recent years. However, 40-80% of bacteria genes in the metagenomic databases are not well annotated. Therefore, more efforts should be made to improve the classification and description of microbiomes. Mass spectrometry-based proteomics has also begun to be applied to large-scale metaproteome profiling of the microbiome, however, the current analytical platforms are not mature enough to identify and quantify the very complicated metaproteome. Here, we have developed a metaproteomics workflow for gut microbiota using fecal samples.
