エレクトロスプレーイオン化-イオンモビリティ-衝突誘起電荷脱離-タンデム型高分解能質量分析法によるポリメタクリル酸メチルの末端構造解析
In electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) analysis of synthetic polymers, the generation of ions with various multiply charges and their overlapping results in a complex MS spectrum, impossible to interpret. We have developed a new method combining ESI, quadrupole (Q), ion mobility spectrometry (IMS), collision induced charge stripping (CICS), and time of flight (TOF) MS to solve this problem. In the analysis of PMMA (m.w. 22,200), ESI-MS-IMS-CICS-TOFMS is sufficient to reduce the complexity of the spectrum, and the end groups were successfully estimated. ESI-MS-IMS-CICS-TOFMS measurement was applied to PMMA prepared by free radical polymerization. In this analysis, MS signals corresponding to PMMA molecular weight ranged 500-16,000 were observed and three initial end groups and two terminal end groups were successfully identified.
