Analytical methods of veterinary drug residues in food using LC-MS/MS
Veterinary drugs are widely used not only for the prevention and treatment of diseases, but also used to improve livestock productivity. The residues of veterinary drugs in food may pose a risk to human health during consumption. To protect consumer health, there is a strict regulation to control and minimize their residues. Various analytical methods are utilized for monitoring regulatory compliance. Mass spectrometry (MS) is one of the analytical tools used in a number of laboratories, especially liquid chromatography-tandem MS (LC-MS/MS) is an advanced powerful tool in terms of sensitivity and selectivity. LC-MS/MS has been widely applied to the analysis of veterinary drug residues. In this session, we would like to present and discuss the analytical methods of veterinary drug residues using LC-MS/MS, focusing on the method for the determination of nitroimidazoles which are typical antiparasitic and antiprotozoal agents.
