Analysis of Nylon by Thermal Desorption and Pyrolysis Combined with DART-MS (TDP/DART-MS) and EGA-MS
EGA-MS is useful method to distinguish even if the samples chemical structure was similar, since thermal desorption and decomposition behavior is acquired. An ambient ionization technique, DART-MS combined with thermal desorption and pyrolysis(TDP)/DART-MS is also useful method for discrimination. In this paper, we described the differences between TDP/DART-MS and EGA-MS using measurement data of nylon. As a result, in EGA-MS, the mass spectra were almost same, whereas in TDP/DART-MS, different mass spectra were obtained among samples. This difference was mainly caused by the differences in ionization methods. In EI ionization, fragment ions whereas in DART ionization, molecular ions were mainly detected. Therefore, TDP/DART-MS enables identification of nylon kinds rapidly and useful analytical method in the fields of forensic discrimination, foreign substances analysis.
