Development of Automated Identification and Quantification Database Systems for Micro-pollutants by GC/MS and LC/QTOF-MS

Automated Identification and Quantification Database Systems (AIQSs) using GC/MS and LC/QTOF-MS for measurement of micro-pollutants have been developed. More than 1400 substances can be measured by both AIQSs without the use of standards because the AIQS consists of RT, mass data and calibration curves. In addition, it is easy to add new substances in AIQS and also perform retrospective analysis after adding new substances because AIQS measures samples by total ion monitoring (TIM, scan). But in order to obtain reliable analytical results, the performance of an instrument used for measuring samples should be maintained as the same conditions as those of the instrument used for creating the AIQS. As a result of examination of reproducibility of quantification using 4 instruments after confirming their performance, it was confirmed that 80% of the chemicals registered in the AIQS were correctly quantified: below 20% of RSD, which are close to those of the conventional methods. Since the present AIQSs are developed for environmental analysis, it is necessary to create other AIQS for food sciences, forensic sciences and medical sciences.
