Laser Desorption/Ionization of Gold Nanoparticles: Comparison between Sphere, Star, Rod-shaped Nanoparticles

(Kagoshima Univ.)
oTomoki Nishi, Yasuro Niidome

Laser desorption/ionization (LDI) of sphere, star, rod-shaped gold nanoparticles in gelatin sections was investigated. In the case of spherical nanoparticles, the LDI efficiency depended on their sizes. The most efficient LDI occurred when the mean diameter was 46 nm. Larger particles (66 nm) showed smaller LDI efficiency. Rod-shaped nanoparticles showed more efficient LDI than that of spherical nanoparticles that had the same volume with the rod-shaped nanoparticles.
