Current state of large-scale metabolome data acquisition in cohort study
Since 2012 we have implemented a cohort study on metabolomic analysis. The purpose of this study is to discover novel inspection indicators and prevention methods that help the early detection of lifestyle diseases such as cancer, stroke and heart disease by analyzing the blood and urine of 10,000 citizens and integrated with health diagnosis and questionnaire information. However, in such a cohort study the main challenge is how to maintain the overall measurement accuracy due to the need to continuously measure over several thousands of specimens over a long period of time. In this presentation, I will introduce the technological problems and solutions associated with the metabolomic analysis that we have worked on so far.
