The 79th Workshop on Fundamentals, Ionization and Ion Chemistry in Mass Spectrometry (On-line)

"Negative Ionization Mass Spectrometry Using a Metal Needle and the Related Ionization Processes"
Prof. Satoshi Ninomiya (University of Yamanashi)

When a high voltage is applied to a metal needle (e.g., an acupuncture needle) under atmospheric pressure, positively or negatively charged ions are produced by gas phase ion/molecule reactions. It can be categorized as one of atmospheric pressure chemical ionization methods in mass spectrometry. In this talk, I would like to introduce negative ionization mass spectrometry using a metal needle or its modified needle to which a dc or ac voltage is applied and the related ionization processes.
