We have previously reported on the performance of our palm‑sized electric field–scanning mass spectrometer as part of our effort to miniaturize the instrument. In the present study, hydrogen gas was introduced into the electron ionization ion source(EI), and ion–molecule reactions involving atmospheric components (H₂O, N₂, O₂, Ar, CO₂) were examined. We attempted to detect the proton adduct reaction products formed from each component.
