Lens capsule and lens from cataract patients were analysed by mass spectrometry imaging. The research methodology involved lens capsule collection during surgery, including three cases using intracapsular cataract extraction (ICCE). Samples were prepared using trypan blue staining, CMC embedding, freezing, and analyzed using iMScope for mass spectrometry imaging and HE staining for histopathological analysis. The findings showed different spectral patterns between subcapsular and intracapsular regions in ICCE samples, with molecular distributions varying by cataract severity. This research could potentially lead to advances in cataract prevention and treatment by identifying key molecules involved in progression
