Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the approximately 700 participants who attended the 10th Asia-Oceania Mass Spectrometry Conference (AOMSC2025).
This year's conference was held at the ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort, located on the beautiful beach of Ishigaki Island, just north of the Tropic of Cancer. The conference began the day after the summer solstice and was blessed with clear skies, with bright sunlight shining throughout the event. The direct sunlight from above, under the slogan “from Bench to Beach,” energized both our minds and discussions.
A total of 666 registered participants from 23 countries, primarily across the Asia–Oceania region, joined the conference—including 293 people from outside Japan. Altogether, 505 presentations were delivered and discussed, including 4 special lectures, 3 MSSJ award lectures, 15 keynote lectures, 34 invited lectures, 64 oral presentations, 364 poster presentations, 9 corporate posters, 10 luncheon seminar lectures and 2 tea-time session lectures. In addition, a Young Scientist Forum(YSF) was held prior to the main conference starting on June 21, featuring 74 pre-registered participants (47 from outside Japan), 15 oral presentations, and 2 invited lectures. The AOMSC2025 best presentation awards were given to six participants in both the First and Second Prize categories, as well as one YSF award. The conference was supported by 34 companies, including 6 Medal Sponsors, who contributed through corporate exhibitions, luncheon seminars, program booklet advertisements and beverage service during poster sessions. I was also delighted to welcome 290 guests to the conference banquet in the evening of the third day.
To promote the participation of students and early-career researchers, the organizing committee offered a matching travel grant program jointly funded by national/regional mass spectrometry societies. A total of 94 attendees received support through this initiative.
While the venue proved slightly compact due to the higher-than-expected turnout, its breathtaking beachfront location enabled us to host portions of the poster presentations, welcome mixer, and banquet in the outdoor garden of the venue—even after 8 p.m., under the lingering summer light. I believe the conversations exchanged amidst the sea breeze deepened not only academic knowledge but meaningful personal connections.
I’m delighted to share that the next AOMSC will be held in 2027 in Taiwan. I look forward to further expanding our circle of knowledge across the Asia–Oceania region and reconnecting with you at the next conference.
Sincerely,
Yasushi Ishihama
Chair, AOMSC2025
