The mass imaging technique using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI-MSI) has recently been widely used in various fields. MALDI-MSI, which employed a soft ionization method, can be used to visualize the localization of various types of molecules. In a typical workflow of MALDI-MSI, frozen tissue sections of 5 to 10 µm in thickness are prepared and placed on a conductive glass slide. A uniform matrix layer is then applied to the tissue sections, and the sections are introduced into the instrument for MALDI-MSI measurements. One of the challenges of MALDI-MSI is that some samples are difficult to make thin sections, such as the surface measurements of plants and resin samples. One of the solutions for such samples is to transfer the organic compounds on the sample's surface to a specially processed plate. In this presentation, we attempted to transfer compounds on the resin surface by using a new transfer plate with high robustness and performed MALDI-MSI measurements.
