Native mass spectrometry (native MS) is an analytical technique to determine molecular masses of proteins and protein complexes that have maintained their interaction in solution without crosslinking, which provides the composition and stoichiometry for their structural characterization. We have used mass spectrometry for structural biology, including native MS, to characterize the intrinsically disordered proteins. In this talk, I will highlight the structural characterization of intrinsically disordered protein complexes using ion mobility mass spectrometry and the methodology of native MS in the presence of nonvolatile buffer.
