Mass spectrometry based multi-omics for understanding the molecules which contribute to the pharmacological actions of Japanese traditional Kampo medicine was constructed, and its performance was evaluated using commercial plasma of twenty-four healthy human subjects. Non-targeted metabolomics detected Cotinine in multiple samples and discriminated presumptive smokers. Plasma EVs proteomics revealed that increased expression of two extracellular matrix component proteins, each of them may be associated with asthma and cardiomyopathy, was observed in the group which Cotinine was detected.
