トリプル四重極LC-MSを用いた補酵素F430の高感度分析法
Methanogens are methanogenic archaea living strictly anaerobic conditions such as wetlands, rice fields, marine sediments etc. and produce 1 billion tons of methane per year. Therefore, they play an important role in the global carbon cycle as well as greenhouse effect and gas hydrate formation.
Coenzyme F430 is a Ni tetrapyrrole compound and prosthetic group of methyl coenzyme M reductase (MCR). Since this coenzyme F430-MCR complex catalyzes a key reaction step of methanogenesis, coenzyme F430 has a potential to be a better biomarker for methanogens relative to conventional geochemical and microbiological tools including lipids biomarkers and gene analysis. Especially, it can be useful for application into subsurface marine sediments where distribution and activity of methanogens are poorly understood because of restriction of available techniques to detect methanogens. If distribution of coenzyme F430 in marine sediments is cleared, we may address this issue.
