The goal of this study is to elucidate the mechanism of ‘’matrix effect ‘’ to control/overcome its negative influences on ESI measurements. The influence of matrix molecules on the signal intensity of analytes in a simple system was examined. Mixtures of two amino acids having different hydrophobicity were analyzed by flow-injection LC/MS. It was found that the physicochemical properties of amino acids correlated with the signal intensity were useful for analysis of the influence of matrix on vaporization process of analyte in detail.
