Mass spectrometer equipped with ion mobility separation is developed and used mainly for the separation of isomers of relatively low molecular weight species in bioscience field so far. Further, recently its availability is spreading into proteomics to identify large number of proteins in one measurement by combining HPLC separation and ion mobility separation. However, there are few studies using ion mobility for polymer samples or in the chemical industry field. On the other hand, it is known that the type of cation adducts to sample molecules could affect ion mobility or separation behavior. Therefore in this study, difference of separation behavior caused by different cations adduct to the samples was investigated to obtain basic knowledge on the analysis of synthetic polymer samples using ion mobility spectrometry.
