The distribution of pesticide on leaves was revealed by mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) using new transfer plates developed by Hamamatsu Photonics. The evaluation of leaf surfaces by conventional MSI was difficult due to their surface irregularities. However, the new transfer plate solved that problem and enabled highly sensitive analysis of pesticide on leaves with only a simple pretreatment. Moreover, this technique is inexpensive and easy to prepare compared to radioisotope labeling methods. We found that this technique is useful as a new method for evaluating permeability, one of the most important properties in agrochemical research.
