"Fix mist" is generic term for cosmetic products that are sprayed on the skin after makeup to form a functional coating, such as a water resistant coating, to enhance makeup lasting. However, with existing visualization method, such as Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI), have some restrictions on how to collect the coating from the skin. In this study, we developed new visualizing method using transfer plate. As a result, we found transfer plate is not only collecting coatings from the skin, but also visualizing various types of compounds by optionally spraying a matrix solution. In results of visualizing fix mist coatings, Dimethylpolysiloxane (PDMS) was detected in the entire area, whereas Polyethylene glycol (PEG) was detected to be localized. Consideration with the contact angle data, such localization of PEG would affect water repellent function.
