Laser desorption ionization was first adopted to the crystalline sponge (CS) encapsulated guest molecules. CS method made it possible to determine the structure of non-crystalline compounds, the guest molecules, distributed inside in the CS framework periodically. In this work, both X-ray and MS approach were made for structure analysis of the guest molecules. Piperonyl acetone was used as a guest molecule having electron-rich backbone to interact with the CS framework. The presence of piperonyl acetone was confirmed at different three position in the CS by X-ray crystallography. The conventional mass spectrum as well as the 2D imaging diagram provided some important results of this analysis based on the fragment ion peaks derived from the guest molecules in low mass range
