This paper shows the basic theory of the soft ionization technique for real-time monitoring and quantitation which has been commercially available in recent years. In addition, not only conventional positive reagent ions but newly added negative reagent ions which have benefit to enhance the selectivity and the variety in detecting compounds are introduced.
