A procedure is described for the rapid extraction and quantification of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA), from human plasma and serum using ISOLUTE® SLE+, supported liquid extraction (SLE) columns and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The SLE process of these analytes is analogous to traditional liquid-liquid extracation (LLE) and utilizes the same water immiscible solvent systems for analyte extraction. The methodology proved suitable for the accurate quantification of PFOS and PFOA in biofluids samples.
