Absolute quantification of primary metabolites in cyanobacteria for rational metabolic engineering.
An absolute quantitation of central metabolism related intermediates was conducted for the metabolically engineered strains of a model photosynthetic microorganism, Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. Based on the absolute quantification data, thermodynamic states were investigated by estimation of Gibb’s free energy change to identify metabolic bottlenecks for active ethanol production by Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803.
