Up to now, a detailed examination of the structure of the ion source that influences ionizing was not carried out. The optimal ion source for ionization was assembled inquiring each time. We have been developing corona discharge tube of ion source attached to liquid ionization/mass spectrometer. Stainless pipe (SUS 306) of the thin wall, the seamless, and the acid-proof that processed the bright annealing and the ground was the best to the corona discharge. And then, the tube was inside diameter of 13 mm. The steel tubes of other materials (aluminum and copper) generated rust and the etching and were not suitable for long-term use. When 20 mm tube was used, the corona generated spark and unstable electrical discharge. The position of the needle electrode needed accuracy for the center of the tube. Moreover, it was 10 mm or more from the tube front. It was necessary to introduce the argon gas from the point by 40 mm or more.
