Epigenetic modifications, which are the acquired genetic modifications, include DNA methylation and histone post-translational modifications (PTMs) such as methylation, acetylation, ubiquitination, and so on. Epigenetic changes are involved not only in life as proliferation, differentiation, and development and but also in diseases as cancer and lifestyle diseases. We are now working on epigenomics that target histones, including histone PTM analysis, searching for reader proteins that bind specific PTM, and drug screening for histone modifying enzymes. Here, we will report about strategies to analyze histone PTMs and variants.
