Fast atom bombardment ionization is known as one of a soft ionization method for mass spectrometry, because using matrix like glycerol. Usually, we get the protonated molecule [M+H]+, but on occasion, positive molecular ions M+ and dehydride molecules [M-H]+ are formed under positive ion FAB conditions. The processes of formation of [M-H]+ had been studied and some report proposed the structure could form the [M-H]+1,2). The [M-H]+ was appeared at positive ion FAB mass spectra of certain derivatized monosaccharide. We clarified the 1-methoxy-4-methoxymethyl benzene moiety is play an important role in formation of [M-H]+ .
