Desorption/ionization of gold ions from gold nanoparticle in a gelatin section was quantitatively evaluated by using Mass Spectrometry. Counts of gold ions were linear to the nanorod concentrations, when those were smaller than 5 nM (gold nanorods) in gelatin solutions. Limit of the detection was estimated to be 10 pM (gold nanorods) that corresponded to 60,000 (particle numbers)/mm3 in a gelatin section.
