The compounds on non-conductive substrate surface are often targeted to be analyzed in the industrial application. However, the target plate needs conductivity to accelerate ions in MALDI-TOFMS. Without any treatment, the mass resolution and ion intensity dramatically decreased by charge up effect. We have evaluated the gold vacuum deposition method to perform imaging mass spectrometry on non-conductive substrate surface.
