Disposition of drugs into hair can provide firm evidence and chronological information on individual drug use, which are often indispensable evidence of crimes. Recently, the authors have applied MALDI–MS imaging and sectional hair analyses of 1-mm segments using LC-MS/MS for single-strand hair to investigate the incorporation pathways of drugs into hair. The high-resolution analyses and our findings concerning incorporation pathways present essential information for the advancement of chronological-resolution in estimating drug use history.
