From analysis of the Hayabusa samples to Hayabusa2: Noble gas isotope mass spectrometry

(KOPRI)
oKeisuke Nagao

Noble gas mass spectrometry applied to the Hayabusa samples returned from the Itokawa asteroid in 2010 will be presented. The tiny silicate samples, less than 100 μm, provided us with valuable information about the environmental condition of small asteroids irradiated by solar wind and cosmic-rays in space. Improvements in sample collection method applied to the Hayabusa2 will be mentioned.
