鉄-希土類合金の熱力学測定と鉄鋼製造プロセス
Because rare earth elements have a high chemical affinity with oxygen and sulfur, the metals are used in the steel-making process as deoxidizing and desulfurizing agents. They are also used in cast iron to control its microstructure. To improve the product quality of the iron-based materials while reducing consumption of this resource necessitates studies on the compound formation of rare earth elements in molten iron. High temperature mass spectrometry has been applied to activity measurements of iron-rare earth alloys, and the results are considered in relation to materials processing.
