LC-MS/MSを用いた生命誕生前の生物有機分子生成研究
Functional biopolymers like proteins, RNAs, and DNAs are composed of simple constituents such as amino acids, nucleobases, or ribose. Abiotic formation of these building blocks as well as ordered oligomerization of these blocks is an essential step toward the origins of life. Developments in Earth and planetary sciences have gradually unveiled the environments of the prebiotic Earth. However, how these organic compounds formed and developed on the early Earth is still unclear. In researches to solve these problems, LC-MS and LC-MS/MS have been used as a powerful tool, such as for the analysis of organics synthesized in experimental simulation of geological processes, analysis of organics in meteorites, or in situ analysis of extraterrestrial organics on spacecraft. In this presentation, I will introduce our resent works on the formation of prebiotic organic compounds on the early Earth and how these formations have been shown with mass spectrometry.
