Collision-induced dissociation (CID)-MS/MS utilizes rare gas or nitrogen molecule gas as collision gas. Our research group has developed a new radical-induced dissociation (RID)-MS/MS using charge-neutral and highly reactive radical gas instead of collision gas. In this study, we succeeded in developing a new radical source that can generate H • and OH • gases for RID. The new RID method, which integrates injection of a variety of radical species, has made it possible to accomplish unprecedented biomolecular analyses.
