Polymers are widely used advanced materials, which are found almost in every material used in our daily life. To develop highly functional materials or confirm the safety correctly, it is necessary to grasp the details of polymers and its products. GC-MS offers a wealth of fragmentation data and a thorough, highly useful mass spectral library, so it is used for identifying each compound. However, there are many unknown compounds that are not registered in the traditional libraries like high molecular-weight pyrolyzates, reaction products and new additives.
In this poster, Gas chromatography/high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC-HRT) was used to detect and identify unknown pyrolyzate and reaction product by using accurate mass measurement of the molecular, fragment ions and with the helpful software tools.
