The oxidation reaction includes oxygen attachment reaction and hydrogen abstraction reaction. The latter is known to cause aging, cancer and Alzheimer's disease in vivo. In this study, we examined how hydrogen is abstracted from analytes by CO3・-, using analytes with various different physicochemical properties and atmospheric pressure corona discharge ionization mass spectrometry (APCDI-MS). The results suggested that degree of hydrogen abstraction depends on the properties of the functional groups of analytes and the bond energy between each atom.
