イメージング質量分析の創薬研究への活用を目指して ~組織分布の定量的解析法の開発~
Imaging mass spectrometry (IMS) enables to visualize the distribution of drugs and endogenous molecules simultaneously on tissue sections without labeling. In drug discovery and development research, studies about the distribution of a drug after its administration provide useful information on the mechanism analyses for the onset of efficacy or toxicity. In this study, we analyzed the distribution in rat knee joints of the drug candidates, which inhibit a pain-related molecule in vivo, by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI)-IMS. In addition, we conducted the quantitative analysis by IMS to evaluate the tissue distribution of some compounds and the variation of the endogenous molecule caused by the disorder in the tissue samples.
