We have been studying the structures of gas-phase ions of supramolecules and inorganic clusters using cryogenic ion mobility-mass spectrometry. Kinetics and dynamics of isomerization reactions and ion-molecule reactions at low temperatures have also been investigated for some systems. The following three topics will be mentioned in this talk. (1) Size-dependent geometrical motifs of transition metal oxide cluster ions. The structural changes of cluster ions of metal oxides, which are used as various materials, with their growth are discussed in these studies. The interesting structure of alloy systems is also reported using the results of infrared spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. (2) Intramolecular proton transfer (isomerization) reactions in protonated p-aminobenzoic acid and related molecules induced by collision with an ammonia molecule. The mechanism by which a single NH3 molecule transports protons between multiple protonation sites (-CO, -NH2, etc.). (3) Metal-ion-dependent geometries in complexes consisting of ionophore molecules and metal guest ions. The complex structures dependent on metal ions are shown for crown ethers and beauvericin.
