制御されたガス流を活用した移動度分離顕微鏡観測システムの開発

Ion mobility Spectrometry (IMS), especially combined with mass spectrometry, has been one of the powerful tools to elucidate molecular structures. To enhance resolution, ion-trap IMS with gas flow has been developed recently. However, IMS can only detect collision cross section, so that fine structures such as bumps and aspect ratio of not spherical structures cannot be directly elucidated from mobility. Here we present a newly developed measurement system IMS combined with optical microscope which enables us to have actual images of charged particles. With this system, trapped polystyrene particles are observed.
