質量分析データを活用した新たな健康機能解析手法の開拓
Obesity is a recognized risk factor for serious disorders. Therefore, avoidance of dyslipidemia and glucose metabolism disorder induced by obesity help prevent us from serious lifestyle diseases. Liver and adipose tissue are major therapeutic targets of these metabolic abnormality. We have been searching for activators of PPARα (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α) which is well known as a master regulator of lipid metabolism in liver. We identified several food ingredients and endogenous metabolite (lysophospholipid) as PPARα activators using mass spectrometry data. Furthermore, we also have been searching for target for improving metabolic abnormality in adipose tissue. We demonstrated that several food ingredients and endogenous metabolite (inosine 5'-monophosphate) contribute to improving metabolic abnormality in adipose tissue. Mass spectrometry data including metabolome analysis is essential to study the effect of food ingredients and endogenous metabolites on metabolism in liver and adipose tissue. At present, we try to establish new approach for health function analysis based on enormous metabolites information and health functional evaluation. We believe that this system contributes to health promotion.
