Tracing Propagation of Neutral Species in the MALDI Plume Using Vacuum Ultraviolet Laser Post Ionization
Matrix-assisted laser desorption and ionization (MALDI) ions are generated on a nanosecond scale in the dense plume. Therefore, it is necessary to trace the spatiotemporal distribution of ion species and neutral species near the MALDI sample surface to understanding MALDI ion generation. In this study, we developed a method that can trace the propagation of neutral α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) in the MALDI plume with a temporal resolution of 10 ns using irradiating a vacuum ultraviolet laser light, and investigated spatiotemporal distribution of neutral CHCA in the MALDI plume.
